Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka is a British-American sitarist and musician. She is the youngest woman and the first to receive a British House of Commons shield. Anoushka Shankar is an emerging young star of the Indian sitar. She is the student of Ravi Shankar, and the daughter. She was born in 1982 in London. Her childhood years were spent in London as well as New Delhi. When she arrived in New Delhi, she made her debut when she was only thirteen years old. Then she moved in Encinitas CA, where she received her High School diploma with honors in the year 1999. Although she is still very young, Anouskha is a star in her performing and recording. She often joins her father in performances this she has been doing for quite a few years. She released her debut self-titled album Anourag in the year 1998. The Grammy Award-winning live at Carnegie Hall was released two years following her debut solo album. Her career on stage is vast as she has been in every one of the biggest venues in the world. Also, she has acted. in the 2003 movie Dance Like a Man, where she portrayed a Bharat Natyam dancer young girl. Anoushka Shankar is currently a rising star and her career is expected to continue growing. Anoushka Shankar is a British native who lived her childhood between London, Delhi and California. In Delhi at his 75thbirthday celebration, Anoushka made her debut playing the sitar before the crowd of four years following her nine-year-old father. Anoushka was able to gain numerous valuable experience as she traveled with her father during his worldwide tour. This included performing in Carnegie Hall and at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festivals, as well as performing together with George Harrison. As a tribute to her status as one of the top musicians in Asian Arts, she was presented with the House of Commons Shield by British parliament.
